Bundok Books
"bundok", the Tagalog word for mountain, is where the word boondocks derives from, and speaks to the bookstore's curated inventory that reflects the interests and personalities of the owners.
An idea in the works since 2015, bundok books, whose tagline is “a mountain of inclusivity in the boondocks”, softly opened its doors to the South Hill, Puyallup community on Independent Bookstore Day 2025 after several months of pop ups, markets, and silent book club appearances.
Our books come in a full range of reading levels and genres and showcase voices that are often silenced or censored, including AANHPI (especially Filipino/Fil-Am), BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ authors, as well as Indigenous voices from around our immediate vicinity.
In addition, we carry a large collection of signed books from local and independent authors, local nature and history books (including trail guides and identification manuals), and classics as graphic novels.
bundok books frequently collaborates with local creatives and features many handcrafted gift items in the store, such as engraved tumblers, sensitivity-friendly fragrances, stickers, bookmarks, crocheted book covers, greeting cards, and jewelry.
